What a definition is not

A study demonstrating that a product’s packaging and shipping configuration protects it against the temperature, humidity, vibration, and handling stresses encountered in its actual distribution lane(s), keeping the product within its labeled storage conditions and free of physical damage from dispatch through receipt.
Studies combine calibrated temperature (and often shock/vibration) data loggers placed inside the shipping configuration with either real shipments over the actual distribution lane or simulated profiles built to represent worst-case seasonal extremes — a summer study and a winter study are typical for temperature-sensitive product.
Where a shipment excursion is detected in routine distribution, the shipping validation data — combined with the product’s stability data — is what supports a documented disposition decision on whether the affected product can still be released or used.
